Ingredients for Butters and Lotions

Our thick lotions, body butters, and lotion sticks contain a mixture of oils and butters that are designed to glide on the skin, let the healing oils sink in and leave your skin feeling soft and silky.

Our lotions and butters contain one or more of the following:

 Sweet Almond Oil
is for conditioning and softening the skin. It is great for dry itchy skin and contains vitamins and minerals.
Avocado Oil
is said to have healing and regenerating properties and is rich in vitamins A, D and E.
 Babassu Oil
is from the Brazilian rainforest and leaves the skin with a soft, lustrous smoothness.
 Cocoa Butter
has emollient properties making it great in soaps and lotions.
 Evening Primrose Oil
contains gamma-linolenic acid which is very nourishing and good for eczema and psoriasis.
Grapeseed Oil
is rich in vitamins, minerals and linoletic acid.
Jojoba
is a liquid wax highly penetrating and it closely resembles human sebum. It is anti-inflammatroy and anti-oxidant. It also prolongs the shelf life of the product.
Mango Butter
has a pleasant light scent with a creamy coloring and is a greatly respected emollient obtained from the fruit kernels of the Mango tree.  It has  a softening effect and is easily speadable on the skin.
Meadowfoam Seed Oil
is a stable, non-greasy, rapidly absorbed oil ideal for lotions giving a soft, smooth, and silky feeling.
Wheatgerm Oil
is nourishing to the skin and rich in vitamins A, D and most inportantly E.
Preservatives
Preservatives are what make our lotions and butters safe.  Any product made with water can grow bacteria, yeasts and molds. A preservative allows us to make a product that will  be able to be stored at room temperature instead of your fridge. A preservative allows you to keep your lotion or butter for longer than two weeks without fear of growing nasties.
Germall Plus Liquid
This preservative is highly effective in inhibiting the growth of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, and molds.  Germall Plus is a registered trade mark of the manufacturer, Sutton Laboratories. INCI Name: Propylene Glycol (and) Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate. We use this in our butters and lotions.
Liquapar® Optima
A liquid preservative system designed to prevent contamination in a wide range of personal care products.  Applications in water, oil and emulsion type formulas. Stable, non-irritating, non- sensitizing at recommended levels. Globally approved for harder to preserve formulations at levels up to 1.4%. Ingredients: Phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, isopropylparaben, isobutylparaben, butylparaben. We use Liquapar in our Sugar Scrubs.
Optiphen™
A new paraben-free and formaldehyde-free preservative for personal care products from ISP, Optiphen is a unique liquid preservative formulation which consists of phenoxyethanol and an emollient base. INCI Name: Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol
Rosemary Oleoresin (ROE)
Rosemary Oleoresin contains natural antioxidant compounds that are derived from the rosemary plant (Rosmarinus officinalis). ROE is often used for its antioxidant properties to retard the oxidation of oils and helps to retard rancidity. INCI Name: Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract. We add ROE to our bulk oils to keep them from going rancid.
